Cataract Surgery

The only way to remove cataracts is with surgery. Phacoemulsification (PHACO) is a simple and safe
operation to remove the cloudy lens inside your eye, and replace it with an artificial one; called intraocular lens (IOL). The IOL can be monofocal, bifocal or progressive.

Glaucoma Surgery

LASIK candidates should meet the following criteria

Must be 18 years or older.

To have any of the following refractive errors: nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism or presbyopia.

Have a stable eyeglass prescription for at least 2 years.

Have a healthy cornea.

Don´t have dry eye syndrome or any other eye disease.

Pre-Surgery Tips

The days prior to your surgery it is important that you strictly follow your ophthalmologist recommendations.
Stop wearing your contact lenses a week before surgery, avoid beauty products such as lotions, creams, perfume or makeup. It is also important that you eat a light meal an hour before surgery. Inform your doctor If you´re taking any prescription medicines on regular basis to avoid drug interaction.

Meibomian Gland Therapeutic Expression

Meibomian Glands are located along the edge of both upper and lower eyelids.
Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), is a chronic abnormality of the Meibomian glands, considered as one of the leading causes of dry eye syndrome. The glands are usually full stagnant lipid and protein secretions blocking the gland opening, irritating the eye, failing to lubricate and preventing evaporation of the tears.
This procedure extracts Meibum (lipid-rich secretion) from Meibomian glands, promoting oily secretion, unclogging tear duct.

Dry Eye Diagnosis

Demodex are microscopic parasites that causes a variety of pathologies including blepharitis and dry eye syndrome among others. Detection and measurement of the index of infection by Demodex spp is performed by epilating lashes from both eye´s lower eyelids.
